Did most of the things DIY, lots of learning and mistakes, and still trying to improve everyday!

need some advice guys.

Is there an easy way to catch baby cichlids? I have way too much in the tank and would like to either sell them or transfer them to my sumps refugium.

I don't want to stress out all the other fish trying to catch the juveniles and babies, so should I build a fish trap. Also, as you can see, I have a lot of rocks in the tanks, so it is very very difficult to maneuver the nets and catch them the traditional way.

Any advice would be appreciated! :nuts:

 

Thats a difficult one, which is why i always try to get the female before she spits so that i can strip her and then i put the babies in the sump return chamber.(return pump cordoned off for obvious reasons)

@Chongkie tops tank, nice scape where did you get the rock from? and how did you manage to cut it???

 

Thanks Irfaan, got the rocks outside our offices here in Pietermaritzburg.

I only cut one of the rocks, the arched big one. Had to cut the base flat so it will sit properly without falling over. Use an angle grinder and diamond blade and cut grooves and smack with a hammer... hehe, very crude way to cut the rock, but it worked! The other rocks I just drop on each other until they broke into random pieces. Hehe.

 

u lucky dude that you managed to find the similar color off rock! with me it was hard to find the same and if i looked in my lfs it could have cost me an arm and leg:bawling: wish i could get from sum one ! really wana rescape my tank ! i have been stacking it the same for one year now and since in the lounge wana make it look epic !!!
