Hey. I read that mollies and guppys can benifit from a little salt in the tank. Ive got NT labs salt rocks that i use for my brine shrimp. can i throw 1 or 2 in myl tank? ive got guppys, sailfin mollies, black mollies and tetras and 1 pleco. I don't want to do any damage to any other fish so id rather ask you fine people first

    short answer....NO...

those salt rocks that you use for the brine shrimp are actually sea salted rocks and contain additives that you generally find in the ocean or other brackish waters. if you want to add salt to your tank, go out and buy a 5kg aquarium salt bag from your local LFS for like R20 and you are good to go. also if you have plants, dont use too much salt otherwise you will kill your plants. also the plecos dont like salt in their water but i have used some without any ill effects. just gradually bring up the salinity level.
