How many of you add salt to the water in a discus tank?
And how much do you add?

Dirk if possible i would like to hear what you have to say.

    Blessings all.

No i don't want to add salt. i don't use salt at all.
I was reading on the net a view site about discus and some people use it. so i was wondering in real life if there is people who do it. Because what people say on the net is not always what the practise.

    Thanks

Salt can be used in a discus tank - usually it is used when you see signs of stress such as rapid breathing if I remember correctly.

Both... Take the discus out the planted tank, treat them in the QT tank and when healthy again, put them back in their original home...

    Problem solved.

I like the way you think.....that would be assuming though that you have a fully cycled quarantine tank ready and waiting :)

Nice! Think ahead so you're not left behind  I'm also a firm believer in having at least one quarantine tank up and running at ALL times!

I have 4 empty 160L tanks just waiting to be setup. AND a 5ft tank waiting in the wings as well...

Going to try my hand at plant propogation. Just getting all the gear together. Plants and Apisto fry tanks!!

    Thank all for comments.

Veegali always have a spacer tank ready and fully cycled.
and no i don't have anything in the tank, just some driftwood, no gravel nothing. My planted tank is only 3ft and have some neon tetras in that's all.

So if you use salt in the tank how much and when? only when sick?

    Coarse salt from your LFS.
