I feel like the most horrible person in the world. I have a room dedicated to my spiders which also has 3 fish tanks in it, 2 for puffers and one for guppies.
Each night I put a heater on in the room so that the spiders don't get cold. Earlier the day I had been moving stuff around and I did not notice that my plastic tub with mealworms was standing too close to the heater.
At around 2am my dad woke me up. The tub had melted and the bran in which I kept the worms, wasn't exactly burning but had made embers and an extraordinary amount of smoke. We got everything under control quick enough and used a fan to try clear the smoke.
    All the animals looked ok.
This morning when it was time to feed the fish I found my one Abei puffer dead on the floor and the other dead in the tank.
I'm guessing either the tank got too hot or the smoke diffused into the water through the cascade filter. I am very grateful that things didn't end up much much worse. But I lost my two favourite fish and I'm sure there are other members here who knows what that feel like. Especially if it is rare fish with whom you have a connection and that it was your fault.

    Sorry to hear.
Try not to beat yourself up about it. One of those things.

No I kept them alone. These guys are a bit too aggressive to be kept with other fish.
@Lillas if puffers seem interesting to you drop me a PM and I'll tell you about dwarf puffers.
