    Hi guys,

I am thinking of using RO3 water for my weekly water change.

What is RO3 water? RO3 water is an ozonated, super oxygenated purified drinking water.

There are a couple of steps in the filtration process:

    1. Sand filtration
    2. Carbon filtration
    3. Element filtration
    4. Reverse osmosis
    5. UV treatment
    6. Ozonation

The initial cost is about R100+ because you have to buy the container. The container I had in mind is a 25L one. The refill is R0.80 per liter so that would be R20 per refill for this container.

Now this would be perfect for me as I don't really have a big tank (125L) and 25L is exactly a 20% water change.

This wont really be affordable for people with large tanks (unless you have loads of $$$), but for me with a small tank it would be perfect as it is only R20 and I don't have to add any dechlorinator.

Now my question is this.... Can I use this water for a water change and would my fish be happy with it?

PS. More info about the water can be found here: Oasis water

(Mods, I hope it is ok that I posted the link here.)

    Regards,
    Ernst

well from what i read, ppl use RO water to soften the water in their tank setups. originally people use peat to lower ph..this has the added advantage that u can have softer water without the tannins - crystal clear water..also if u have fish that like a softer water and ur area has quite a high ph in the water then u can go this route.

    hope that helps

also, if the RO water has a ph of say 6 and ur tank has a ph of 7 dont do a 50% water change and add the RO water in.. the fluctuation in PH will kill ur fish :( trust me i made that mistake.. rather do a 20% change over a period of time till ur ph is where u want it to be..

Never use pure RO water, RO water has little to no buffering capacity, which will result in fluctuating ph. You can use RO with tap water to get to the desired hardness.
