wow - quick reply, thanks guys ..
So plumblink has COBRA PEX-ALUM M/LAY PIPE MLP 28X50m
but the Cobra site says "Do not use in Solar installations" .. now I have a solar heater - and I think the installation dude used something similar to pex but it had plastic-copper-plastic> he hooked this up to a copper pipe that was added into the system the previous time the geyser burst. Now I have a pin hole in a iron pipe so I am just going to replace all the visible hot water iron pipes with Pex then?

Or should Cobra pex not be near any water from a solar installation? I am assuming it is a heat issue.

Think it is going to be fun !!

1)OK so it was Pex that the dude used ... eish found some in the roof.
2 - 3) Love the copper on iron - sure that is not a good thing.
    4) Hey the fix has worked for 4 days .. stopped the water jet (it was all I had @ 21:00), but I suppose I need to start fixing something.

I think I will invest in some plex .. 50m should be fine.

Tough call - fix the pipes or add insulation to the fish room's ceiling?

Sorry late reply. Pex has a temp rating that it can handle. Make sure thepex you buy can handle the solar heat, because solar can get extremely hot.

Cu joined to fe also isnt major problem... its been done as common practise for years as people fe pipes corode.

    Hi Guys,

Because of the dangers of copper, I am a big believer in polycarb pipes. Can they handle the heat and aren't they much cheaper than copper or these new pipes?

I would like to hear what the engineers say.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

Funny this pipe business .. firstly what a pleasure buying stuff from them - went to two place plumblink and on-tap ... yes I was the noob, they helped me explained what was need, showed me what to do, reffed me to another chain for some queries on other products and I got a discount.

I ended getting HEP20 stuff ... over spec and bought to much just in-case (and I ended not doing the kitchen) just the bathrooms.

Here's a manual I just found .. http://www.jhplumb.com/system/brand...ginal/Hep20_Technical_handbook.pdf?1279698363 seems like I did everything OK in my first installation using the stuff.
Thanks for all the help guys .. PM etc ..
