    Hi All,

Thought I would post a photo of my fave fish. Well, one of my favorites.........
These are small ones in a lfs.
Mine are a lot bigger, but with all the decor and plants it is difficult to get a decent photo.

    Thanks
    Reedfish

    What size is your tank?
Although they get quite long, (about 30cm in captivity) they don't need a huge tank as they are not very active. And also, they do better in small groups. Mine are always twining around each other in their hiding place.

4ft but it does not have a proper lid. I'm rather going to get a glass knife fish. And maybe get a reedfish( here we call them ropefish) when I get a bigger tank.

Here we call them Ropefish too  But they get called Reeds too.

You would need a lid for their tank. They are very good at escaping apparently.

    Very easy fish to keep.
Lots of hiding spots, and a varied diet and you shouldn't have any problems.

Would you recommend keeping just one with some other fish like angels and tinfoils or not

Apparently they prefer to be in groups of 3+
I have heard loads of people who have just one lose it after a few months.

That mix of fish should be fine.

They are really interesting fish. If you have dim lights like I do (well lots of floating plants), they are out and about quite a lot during the daytime too.

One thing to bear in mind is don't have any small fish with them, or they will be eaten. Beedling Heart Tetra is about the smallest I would risk. And also the oval shape. Thin fish will also get eaten - I had some 8cm+ Halfbeaks in my tank that dissappeared

Feed a varied diet. I give mine minced fish, blood worm, minced prawns, and they also eat sinking Prima granules that I feed to my Angels.

And also, they are great escape artists apparently, so have a tight fitting lid and block any gaps where the pipes etc go into your tank.

most of the fish in my tank grow big, but are still quite young and small, so if i bought young ropefish now, would it be okay, or should i wait a bit?

    How small are they?
It all depends on how big they are, and how big the Reeds are. I wouldn't risk anything smaller than 4/5cm
