Hi guys..my 2mx70cm wide x 60cm high tank has been empty for last month or two..decided to take it down and give it a new look so to say..hated the way the stick on background looked on it..so took that off and painted the back of the tank blue..came out good and gives the tank a nice brighter look without spookin the fish..also built a new overflow, but having problems with noise so goin2 make some changes on it..now for the good news..hopefully this week i'l be getting some new tanganyikan and malawi cichlids for the tank..some will only be kept in the tank for few months..eventually the frontosa will grow bigger and have the tank to themselves..ordered 14 cyphotilapia mpimbwe blue,10 cyprichromis leptosoma kitumba jumbo,6otopharynx lithobathes zimbabwe rock and 6 spilonotus tanzania.i also have 10aulonocara maleri and 7placidochromis phenochilus for the tank..once fish arrive and water is in,i'l take pics and post them up..looking forward to getting the mpimbwe blues..they are awesome and totally different in character to normal frontosa

Hi guys.unfortunately i dont have access to a camera to take pics..added the 10 aulonocara maleri and 7 placidochromis phenochilus today..also got 6 lethrinops tsatseke..an extremely rare fish..you wont find any pics on internet..and have 5 electrochromis ornatus. Riyadh..i ordered the other fish from dolphin..waiting on them to arrive..once they arrive they'l go into quarantine and then into the 2m.i'l probably thin out the numbers once the fish are bigger.

Can't even find any online info... are you sure you spelt the name right? When were they discovered? Are they an officially described species?

Lol this fish has sparked my interest :D

You wont find it on the internet..it is not a described species yet..a breeder in cape town received a few wild caught specimens from his exporter at lake malawi..the exporter has an undisclosed location on the lake where he collected these fish.

I dont Understand this. I thought that you only get one type of Frontosa. But on better research I found that there are a few, however only one has the frontosa name. The other have different names, like the one in the pic above it is called Cyphotilapia gibberosa (Mpimbwe), the others are C. sp. "North" (Burundi)C. frontosa (Kigoma)
They all have Cyphotilapia as a family name, is this what makes them frontosa?

Cyphotilapia is the genus name..you are right..the only 'frontosa' is the northern type..kigoma.which i have:)lol.the others are known as cyphotilapia gibberosa..of which there are lots of collection types..most ppl know bout 'zaire blue' frontosa..but hardly any guys know there are bout 5 different types of zaire blue..so the term zaire blue is bit outdated

    Hi Sarf

Are any of these fish available Telmatochromis bifrenatus or any breed. The Julidochromis regani that I bought from you are started to show signs of pairing. A few grew quite big (female) and the others are still small (male). My leleupi started breeding but the other females went on a breakfast hunt. see you saturday let me know the time
