    Hi All,

I have a 3ft tank that i cant seem to get clear.
The water has a red tinge to it.

I have tried to drain the water several times and clean the filters but its still red.

I first thought it was the fish but i have since then changed all the fish. (Oscars got to big for the tank :))

I'm wondering now if its the food that i use.

    I use Tetra Prima.
Its for colorful fish. (I use it to feed guppies)
I put this in a pepper grinder mixed with some tropical fish flakes.

Has anyone else had this food stain the water ?
Is there a way to get the water clear with out hurting the fish?

Do you have any Wood in the tank?It may be tannins leaching from the wood.
What fish do you have in there?
Hope you did not feed Koi Pellets, especially the super cheap ones.

I use Tetra Prima extensively, and have never had it discolour my water.

Do you have wood in the tank?
And what substrate do you have?

Puringen should take care of the staining.

Same here really. One of the foods I used pretty much exclusively was Tetra Prima, and I've never had this problem.

However, I have heard of such a thing occurring when the Prima copy was used - a cheap duplicate which is often sold in bags. It can be a great 'bulk' food, but quality is entirely lacking. It wasn't such that the use of the food discoloured the water, but rather that any leftover food did so.

Also not sure how you get the water colored with Prima?

yeah, you got to be very careful with the "bulk" food that is often for sale. I would never touch it.
I would rather pay a bit more and get the better qulaity named brand.
