Okay,so, many of you know about MTS (Multiple Tank Syndrome) and most will soon pick up the bug and settle down with, usually, 5 or more tanks.

Often Noobs (New Enthusiasts) buy a tank in a LPS and don't often have the knowledge about the fish they really, really want and some just think only guppies and goldfish exist.

Some are offered a measly variety while others are to overwhelmed and start impulse buying.

From personal experience, I have probably kept most of the common fish that you see in your LPS that could fit in a 2ft. I spent over R4000 on fish and equipment over the past year because I was not decided on what I want and because I didn't know what fish are available.

Right now I'm getting rid of everything so I can start off from scratch with top equipment and a compliment of fish that I know I want.

Are there those few who actually know what they want and just have 1 tank?

Are there also those of you who wished you hadn't bought as many tanks as you did?

    TM

Lol! I WANT a tetra tank, schools of little fish swimming peacefully along. I HAVE anything that might possibly go together in 100l, guppies in 30l and siamese fighter in other 30l and I still have to stop myself buying more tanks every time I visit the LFS. I mean, come on! I need at least another large tank for the guppies and a 60l spawning tank for the cories, and maybe some grow out tanks too... ;-)

I know what you mean TM. Still trying to pucker up the courage to set up a new slightly larger 3FT tank and settle with it.

Yes TM... I only have one tank. But only because the space dictates so. Actually, I started with a 40litre, upgrades to a 160litre, which then burst on me. So Insurance then "upgraded" me to a 300litre, and because I had been through the mix and match of bad hobby practice with the first 2, I know what I wanted. I am very happy with what I have now. The only thing is I would prefer to have it bigger. But one day.(I don't count my nano as a fish tank... because it's only a plant tank!)

This is a great idea... in theory. I have a school of 20 Pristella Tetra's in my tank... but this is the catch... they only school when they feel insecure or stressed out. When they are comfortable, they stop schooling. So whilst the idea in theory sounds great, in practice, I believe it won't work.

So basically i have one in my dinning room (150l), one in my room (2ft) and one in the lounge (360l, not set up)
To much money spent every month lol.

    I am a MTS survivor!

Had al sizes and still do but since I got my 260L Tetra tank I feel that I now have what I wanted in the first place. Keeping the nanos for scapes and bettas. Always liked the bettas.

Might have spent a few Rand less here and there if I could do it over.

At the moment I'm where I'm happy, a Happy, go lucky community tank. a Plantless tank, its difficult though. Even though I assumed I had no plants, a little piece of Hairgrass sprouted it ugly head. It was promptly removed. :D
