    Hey all,

My talking spotted catfish has been snacking on my neon tetras!!
So he's being banished to the naughty tank. Which will be a 45x22x22 with an internal filter. I wanted to ask some ideas for what tankmates I can give him? Cant put anything he'll eat in there, but nothing too big as its such a small tank. FYI He's never touched my harlequin rasboras, just the neons!

    thanks for your advice,
    Dane

Firstly, you should either get him a bigger tank, or get rid of him. They grow to 20cm. Keeping it in that small tank is very cruel.

Secondly, if you do decide to keep it, and get it a big tank, don't keep anything that will fit in it's mouth with it.

Any fish that doesn't fit into it's mouth are safe. Otherwise, they don't ever harass surface dwelling fish. With that in mind, you have quite a few options.

Slagter here are many species of talking catfish. Mine does not grow that large.

SalmonAfrica - thanks for the advice. You're right, the harlies are mid and top dwelling while the neons hang out mid and bottom - particularly lower down at night. So that explains their low survival :p

This is more what I was looking for. Also just some ideas on what would look nice.

    Thanks in advance.

The two most commonly traded species, Platydoras armulatus and Agamyxis pectinfrons, grow to 20cm and 15cm respectively. Even though they aren't very active, you're looking at a tank between 60cm and 90cm long for a fully grown fish.
