    Hi @king_acuarios

I started development on this line abt 18 mths ago. They are very pretty Rams and in my opinion the best looking of all the tank bred varieties.

They are now sold across the world as either "Orange head Electric blue-, Powder blue- Golden-Electric blue- and by some even as Paper blue rams

My own line is now breeding true although I do feel it needs further development.

This a typical example of a male and female

Hi! thanks guys. Marco thanks for the photo. That's one of the pictures that was going to show you. I want to see those you development.
I have been looking for more information on this variety of color in the Ramirezi and its beautiful! I want to clarify a few things because I've seen some doubts for persons in other forums. First, there is not a hybrid, because this is a cross between varieties of the same species (Ramirezi Electric Blue and Golden). It's actually a new variety of color (a new mutation). I say new because I've seen and articles about this mutation and just date from 2013. To clarify any doubts that any people here may have, I share some pictures and Internet addresses that I found. So you can compare this photos with, for example, the golden ramirezi and see are not the same color. My own fish although in the video its color looks white, is not only white, the electric blue color looks depending on how the light illuminates it. When I take the video, the fish looked more white than blue but already today after little more than a week of intensive feeding can be seen more blue in its body. Another clarification is that these fish was not born in my tanks, rather, I buy it in a local store.
Well, I will continue looking for more info. to provide ok.. if anyone knows how to obtain this mutation I will appreciate that share it please. Regards.

    Hi @king_acuarios

Im attaching a few photos of mine. These are young ones that I have now. The pictures are not the best but they are never still in the tank so taking a nice photo is quite difficult.

Just a few things I want to mention, not to be pedantic but terminology can be confusing.
The Golden Ram is the only mutation that has been commercially viable.
Mutation is a sudden unpredictable permanent change in the DNA structure and these fish will breed true if bred to each other.
The Electric blue is not a mutation but rather a result of selective breeding.
These new Orange head/Powder blue types are also just a selective bred strain as you have said. Its not a mutation.

Theres not much more info about them really. As far as I know they were first developed by an American breeder who also first called them Powder Blue Rams.
Others followed suit and at the moment they are extremely popular with even larger outlets now breeding them. They are still quite pricey in Europe.
Another strain which is a spin-off of the Powder blue and also being sold now is the Pearlmutt Ramirezi.
This is the promo photo that Aquarium Glaser in Germany has of a young Pearlmutt female.

I'm not all that impressed by it though and have some of them but will not continue the development.

    Rgds
