Yes @fifish and @Pezulu. Preperation is defnitly key here. I will defnitly not jump into this half assed again.

I was extatic when I saw the first lot of 9 fry so having 20 fry reach adulthood is a huge bonus. I'm still positive about this and will see it as a gain of more than 100% and not as a loss of 80%.

Must just add that if it wasn't for the next breeding project, of these guys, the moving of the fry would not have taken place.426cd3b6b402113f7a1f86215d76f0ad.jpg

All recovered? If you had a few more markers on arcadia one could have pegged it as different type of map of very busy street corners  at lights out.

All turned out well. Power came back on after about 2 hours. No losses that I could notice.

Speaking of bad habits in another thread, I admitted to spending too much on the lifestyle.
I got a 6kW generator to enable me to keep the tanks running if there is a power outage.
A plus is that is has enough juice to power everything in the house, apart from the geyser and stove.

Always a good idea to have a backup plan. I have this idea to take the fishroom of the grid by using solar and battery backup ups. But then again when you start making the sums in your head you get scared.

Luckely for me the fish room has a almost constant temp during the day. I was just worried as the fry tank and the gourami tanks are running at 27 that they might loose heat. Unheated tanks run at 20 during the day. I don't think that the power was off long enough to affect this too much as both tanks have glass lids on them. If I was as ocd as @f-fish I would have been able to tell the exact temp at any given time

lol - not sure it is ocd, but yes .. no point in trying to fix something if you do not know where it is broken. With power outages .. I find the best idea is to close the door and go back in when you have power and you can actually do something about it in a managed manner. Cold snap is different - here I would have to wrestle the gas heater from the other 1/4 to heat up the room, but have not had any of that - aaah yet.
