    Hi!

    Quick one guys/gals:

I've been offered a Brand new Penn Plax Cascade 700 for R928. My only comparison is a particular Petshop in Durban, which is a rip off in terms of equipment, where it is selling for R1500.

Is this a good price or bad price??

which petshop might this be KiazerG, i've come across quite a few in Drubz...

have you thought about importing it, it should work out cheaper...here is a link :

    http://www.amazon.com/Penn-Plax-Cascade-Canister-Filter/dp/B0002DJ9GQ

the rand is currently at R7.47 to the dollar and its going for $84.99, so basically its around R600, not sure how much shipping and postage would cost though...

haha so have I Jesse but this one in particular is the only one in Durbs that stocks this particular product... you can pm me if you want the name.

I have a close relationship with a small petshop in my area. they've allowed me to see there stock list and cost pricing and the mark up that some of these place put on this stuff is unbelievable. Put it this way if they took the cost price and doubled it would be alot cheaper than what you currently pay for some of the products.

Anyway anyone that can give me a indication on this product as its one of the few that I dont know the cost for.

    Thanks

Jesse - if you can buy rands from the bank at 7.47 you are doing VERY well - the rate on the JSE/news websites is the actual trading price on the international forex market.....

yes thats the rate the banks buy it from the traders for.... the actual bank selling rate is normally 20 to 25cents higher than that

    Rand per foreign currency unit

    USD US DOLLARS R7.5483 R7.2949 R7.2389 R7.2875

The 1st ammount is the actual rate you will get if you walk into the bank and want to buy us$ for a FOREX trade or TT's

lets not hi-jack KiazerG's thread...but i find it damn near retarded that radio stations would broadcast something that isn't available to the public...its close to false advertising...

nothing wrong with a hi-jack - its part of the goverments job creation program....

The financial indicators needs to be out there as it is a true reflection of whats going on. each of the commercial banks adds they own markup on the ROE of the FOREX. When you do transactions above 50K it gets a better rate - and above 500K even better and when you do a few mil you get great rates

so the R7,5483 is the amount for which bank? i'm assuming that Standard Bank, Nedbank, ABSA etc. will all have different ROE...

Just as an indication, I got 2x Penn Plax Cascade 300's for R265 and R280 two months ago at the same shop in Boston - they were priced diffrently! and they refused to give it to me at the same lower price - only if it were a P&p!
