    Hi all.

Have a problem. The tank I bought has PVC in the wrong place and it has what looks like PVC weld holding it together. How do I meld this stuff without affecting the tank? Must I just cut the PVC with something?

    Thanks

Can you post a picture? Is the tank glass or plastic?

What exactly do you want to do?

Once PVC weld has bonded with the pvc pipe it cannot be undone if joined to a fitting. (There is ways however to save the fitting)

If you need to cut the pipe go buy a 24 or 32 teeth/pmm hack saw blade.

PVC glue welds (melts) the 2 plastics together. You would not be able to break the 2 apart. (Unless th joint is done poorly). Get yourself the hacksaw blade, some extra fittings, and some pipe. (Builder's will carry it all) and redo it.

I want to maybe cut it off to make a spray bar. Can I not use a red hot knife to melt the plastic? The tank is glass and the pipe is in a hard to reach spot. Will figure something out.

If you need to cut it ..
    - abrasive cutting wire on the inside
or cut it on the outside and see if you can push it through.

Or use a figure saw small enough to fit in anywhere:

Found a way to cut it. Going to cut it on the outside with hacksaw and then pop it through.

Hi all, bit of a hi-jack..

Is PVC weld safe for aquarium use? I.e. for connecting the tubing of my sump, or should I just rather use marine silicone?

    Thanks.

Absolutely, but only once dry. It should stand for at least 48hours before being connected to your aquarium. Once it's dry it's no more volatile than the PVC it's connecting
