Managed to pick up some of the 100g for R120 at my local LFS. He also offered the 200g at R185 to forum members. Not sure if I can name, but pm me if interested.

    Hi guys,
As Henk said I am based in Cape Town. For those of you up north who wold like some, I am more than happy to post a box or so up and you can split the R50 odd postage. Still think its worth it! Let me know and I'll sort it out this side.

    Regenerating

My sachet is now good and brown, and actually smelly too, i got some Housebrand Bleach, gonna put the sachets in to regen now, i only have Daro Aqua Chlor available, so, when i'm done, could i use that to neutralise the Chlorine???

wow, btw, the colour change was near instantaneous, in about a minute the gross brown sykous packet was white... and thankfully that funky smell will go away too

what would be the equivalent to Prime or ChlorGuard?

Sorry guys i know this is a little off topic but the Buffer acid at the end of the regeneration is really expensive does anyone know how to make DIY buffer acid?

I read a few posts that said it wasnt needed, the regen'd bag didnt raise their ph. Seachem replied to be safe, THEY always advise its necessary. Put it in water, and leave a few hours, then test the ph. If CL- didnt raise the ph, youre fine

I don't worry about the ph in my tank, it stays constant because my fish have adapted to it being very neutral because I'm not breeding so changing the ph etc is not neccessary.

The buffer only ensures that the purigen with the effects of the chlor stuff doesn't raise your tank's ph. This is why its suggested to add it. . . If you put it in a bowl, and the ph stays the same, doesn't raise about the 8s. then don't worry about buffers

Okay, please help me here, how much Safe should i use to regen my purigen?

I couldnt find someone who had Prime stock, seeing as Safe is the dried powder form of Prime, thats what i got

I need to know the correct dose to use to neutralise my purigen's Chloor content, please advise me someone?

Safe 1 tsp per cup of water
i emailed Seachem support, and asked them to bring the answer up on their FAQ's

Sorry a bit late, but to add

    Sorry!
Abit late, but to add some useful detail:
    Prime 1ml will treat 40L
    Safe 1 Measure(supplied) will treat 60-75L

So if after regeneration of Purigen you wish to complete LAST step of Dechlorination:
2 tablespoons of ChlorGuard™, Prime®, or equivalent dechlorinator per cup of water is recommended.

Let's look at equivalences and approximations:

    Prime 2 T = 2Tablespoons = 30ml( almost)
    30ml would treat 1200L
SAFE So you'd need equiv volume treatment.
    Which would be ~20 MEASURES!!!

    :worried:
There may have been an error in transcription or translation.
I think this is likely, when you mailed Seachem support, or in interpretation of documented instructions.

    because 2t = 2teaspoons = 10ml
Adequate for JUST 400L DeChlorination volume

    400L VS 1200L
    Grossly inadequate

    See the possible problem?

    THAT would be 2/3 UNDERDOSE

Hope you get what I am trying to help point out.

No, you only need about a cup of water to soak a bag of purigen in, and to that cup, before you put the chloor-ed baggie in, you add one tablespoon of safe, then the bag, which will be completely covered in water by then
    let it soak 8hrs +

my bags have gone back to the tanks and all's well

    here's the to-an-fro
