    Hi Prof
I have a batch of your ferts that i have been keeping as a spare , i went to get it out the cupboard and i noticed it was a little darker than the other one i had been using ( the fert bottle not the water hardener). I gave it a shake and noticed it was alot browner(greeny brown) than the other bottle i had been using. I let it settle and noticed there was a "sludge" on the bottom. The bottle has been standing for about 6 months . Is there a shelf life on the product and will it still be safe to use?.

    Thanks
    Antony

The Sludge is normal!! Just give it a good shake before using.

As for the Colour, the Prof will have to comment on that??

    Regards
    G!

Mine is doing that as well... and I noticed Slagters doing that as well when I was at his house a few months back. I don't think it's anything to stress about...

In haste, as I just simply am not catching up after my return and my bout of malaria.

The precipitate in the plant feeding mix fert is perfectly normal. Shake the bottle and then add the dose to your aquarium and all will dissolve immediately. Then there are batch to batch color differences and these are not serious. In general one should not keep the plant feeding mix for more than one year as the iron will then start oxidizing, but certainly there will be no problems within a year.

Hope this will address you concerns.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk
