Is there anybody in Cape Town that has done a DIY pressurized CO2 system before? I want to do this but I dont know where to get the parts and refill. The ADA stuff is expensive and the canisters are so small.

@Jagwa - Look at ebay. That is what most of the guys are doing. Importing is still cheaper than your local LFS

@Jagwa, You can contact @Altum, one of the sponsors who is in CT. He had some Milwaukee Regulators for sale at a good price last year.

Sorry to hijack here but a quick question.

The CO2 units you buy on ebay all have the american plugs on. Can you just cut it off and put normal plug on or do you have to get the converter plug?

@WillemNicolaas - Check for the ones that are European compliant. The American ones will require a step down transformer. Their voltage is 110v and if you plug it in it will go bang!

@MarcHawke There is nice ones on the site that is 220V and then it says US 2 pin plug next to it as well. Is that just the normal 2 point plugs we get here as well?

i just bought a reg off ebay that is 220v but comes with the american plug. When it arrives, i will just buy an adaptor from Game or a travel shop. You can cut the plug if you want too but an adaptor will also work

Hmm Ebay, actully wife wanted a canister some 2 weeks ago and was soooo tempted to buy one at the stall
These things ARE SO expensive here in Gauteng. and the thing I dont understand is that most of the ones
are made of aluminium which should be considered cheap as its made in Asia.
The 27kg industrial bottles will cost R9000 per bottle as its made in France, with special carbon steel.
My question is that tho I can get a 2L for about 500-600 (after my R300 discount) would it be still considered
cheaper to bring in from ebay? or just take the deal at this shop?

@BBQ - Did you mean 2kg CO2 bottle? I wouldn't buy a CO2 cannister from ebay. Rather get it from Fire Extinguisher suppliers. I got our buyer to get me a pricelist. I can get a 4.5kg for R280 (not sure if this is incl or ex vat?).

Ey guys sorry to bump in here again. Hope some of the more knowledgeable guys can help out here...

Fire extinguisher that you get in houses or at work that has the dry CO2 powder in, can that type of canister be used for your pressurized CO2 system?
Is there a difference between dry co2 canisters and co2 gas canisters?
Heard from a lps that they wont advise the use of a fire extinguisher for a pressurized system.

Can somebody please shed some light on this. Dont want to go and fill up my canister i got and then boom...
