MC, do you have any other tanks? Maybe a sall quarantine tank that you can set up for the guppy? Or even a sump...

Best to remove the guppy from the angel tank entirely and set up somewhere safer...?

Unless anyone else has any good ideas? I'm faced with the same dilemna - pregnant danio. I'm going to leave it this time around.

Um... I don't think danio's are livebearers. But they do tend got a rather round belly.

You can buy a breeding net if you don't have another tank MC. Don't get the plastic types... they are very small, and often the guppy will stress herself to death in one of them.

WHat I have is a fairly large net about 15cm (l) x 10cm x 10cm that has a plastic frame inside it, and then those sucker things that hold the net up against the glass. The idea is to put the female in there literally before she's about to give birth... but I've always waited for her to finish giving birth... and the babies that I find hiding in the plants I take out and put into the net. Often if you put the guppy into the net she will stress, and not give birth... often fatal to all.

so if i move her out into another tank wont that stress her aswell

and result in her not giving birth

If you can move her to another tank that would be the BEST option.

Just don't chase her too long in the tank. Wait patiently for her to come to the top of the water and gently net her out... but quickly.

Zoom i have found that the guppy fry swim staight through the holes in those nets.

Or maybe my guppys just have very small babies, i wanted to start a thread on this and ask for any other sugestions.

At the moment i have the net in place, but i don't put the mother into it and i find that the babies swim through the holes to get away from the other fish then i scoop them out with a plastic cup.

Then it's not the right net. My net is definately fine enough. It's almost lke stocking material.. just a lot thicker.

Terminate the guppy. Sorry dude... it's really not worth all the money on meds for a guppy. Sorry I'm being so blunt, but that would be my answer.

Zoom, apologies - I do not know the official term for when a fish is holding eggs. I realize that danio's scatter their eggs, but I call her 'pregnant' because her belly indicates that she is holding eggs. (So I'm told by the breeder I got her from)

MC, so sorry to hear about the dropsy. Never a nice thing to face!
