So a two weeks ago I bought 5 guppies I put them in quarantine and my blond male died the next day. I wasn't happy about what happened so I decided to keep them quarantined for a while more. I'm not sure but I think they are infected with flukes and I want to know what would be the best approach to the situation. The salt ratio in my tank is 1 tsp of salt to every 5l and it's not helping much. I alway have salt in my guppy tanks but I upped the salt in my quarantine tank in hopes of getting rid of the flukes. Ill probably go to the pet shop after work to get something but advice would be appreciated.

Symptoms are quick breathing, Clammed tails and scratch them self against the glass. Water parameter are good did a massive water change of 80% this morning too.

The symptoms could indicate quite a number of possible causes, from Ich to parasites to fungal infections.
I a case like yours, where you have not been able to identify a specific cause, I would treat the quarantine tank with a broadside, to ensure that most possible causes are eliminated.
Double your salt concentration in the tank over 2-3 days, raise the temperature of the water to 30°C, treat the entire water column with Seachem Paraguard (combats parasites), Seachem Neoplex (broad spectrum antiseptic) and Methylene Blue (anti-fungal.)
That should treat and/or combat everything from Ich through most of the parasites to fungal infections.

Take care that Methylene Blue can stain everything in the tank blue. Typically you will notice that the silicone will turn a light blue.
Methylene Blue should also not be used with biological filters like canister or HOB filters.

That bird and fish place near you should stock all the necessary stuff to treat you fish.

Just my opinion..... salt, paraguard, neomycin and methylene blue all at once is just way too much...

Paraguard in itself treats parasites, fungal and bacterial infections
Neomycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic
    Salt treats parasites and fungus
    And still methylene blue?

All this with water at 30 degrees... sorry.... i feel its an overkill and could alone kill the fish... just my humble opinion...

Also.. remember to increase aeration when dosing salt and high temperatures

    Maybe im wrong....

    You're not wrong MariaS.
I should have said salt, water temperature OR Paraguard F
From experience I have seen that Paraguard is not very effective against fungal infections, and without a positive diagnosis I would use it together with the Methylene Blue to treat parasitic and fungal infections.

In a small 10L tank it would be overkill, but in a 110L 3ft tank I have only had success with the combination.

I feel that constantly keeping salt in your tanks isn't a good idea, the fish build up a tolerance towards it and when the time approaches when salt is needed it will not be as effective. I would say to do the salt treatment for 10 days together with the high temperature, 1s that is done you can treat for internal parasites and then finally keep fish in quarantine for a little while while having nothing but clean water.

Ok so I'm treating my fish with a broad spectrum fungal and parasite treatment which also treats flukes and internal worms. My fish are doing ok but the female gave birth prematurely yesterday there's 9 of them. The fry where just resting on the bottom underneath the heater. I removed them and put them in a small container. this morning they where all still alive and they fed on the micro worms on the bottom really well but they can't really swim yet so I hope they will be ok.

Paraguard, prime + daily water changes at 24-26c. More than that will over stress them. The strong ones will fight off the infection. Try to keep the water as close as possible to their preferred parameters, there are heat treatments and so on for specific conditions but clean water is still a winner in my books. Small species don't react well to meds and you end up losing more in the end. The reason for heat is to let the parasites like ich run through its life cycle faster but is very stressful for the fish. So its should only be advised when you know exactly what you are dealing with.
