Wanted: Pool Filter Sand to Spare

    Anyone in Cape Town Northern suburbs have about 2-3KG pool filter sand to spare?

    Busy setting up a new tank and the hardware store only sells it in 40KG bags. I don't have a pool and the extra 37KG will just be wasted :(

    Doesn't it compact over time due to being too fine? Also a challenge to vacuum?

    Don't have any experience with it. I've only used PFS and normal gravel previously.

    I havent had an issue with it. I normally suck up top layer during water changr, rinse well, and pop back into tank. You can also try trumpet snails to keep the sand agitated so to speak.
