@HAPPYBOY, what kind of fish do you have, size of the tank, what are you feeding them and what is your water parameters? pH, NO3, kH, gH, NH4 NH3 (ammonia) etc. How does the poo look except for long and stringy. What colour is it? Brown or slimmy and seethrough? Does your fish look bloated?

what i know is that if the poo is always there it means that you are over feeding your fish.. my fish normally poo about 15-20 min after i feed them and never during the day (well at least i never see them). how often do you feed them and do you have a feeding pattern or you just feed them at random times?

twice a day sounds good i feed my fish twice a day too at 8 in the morning when i open the shop and at 5 before i close. that leave us with the question how much do you feed them. i dont know much about cichlids but another think you can consider is your water temp. if its too hot they'll process the food much faster and if too cold it will take them longer which might lead to the prolonged poo... just thought it make sense don't take my word for it

i think your pleco's are the problem, i have 2 of them 1 large and the other medium and they produce long stringy poo all over the place. you have six i can imagine my tank if i had 6 would be covered. i read that pleco's are known for this and produce alot of poo. the only way i know is to basically vacuum it up. would like to know as well if there is something else i can get to get rid of the mess as it is a bit tedious

Lol @arcky1! Stringy poo can be a sign of a parasite load that's too high, keep an eye out that they don't start getting too thin.

ha ha ha. I thought it was only parents (and my foul hiking/climbing mates) that spoke about poo and here we are talking about colour and consistency.
