I know I was quite cross With this situation. A was wanting a tank like this for awhile now and my mom went to a flea market yesterday and saw one there so she gave me a call describing the tank and price etc... So I asked her to buy it. A guy came to her as they were about to load the tank to look at the tank and he asked if the fish was still alive! There were a lot of plastic plants in the tank so you wouldn't just notice a fish in the tank. So when my mom dropped off the tank it was only a quarter full and this fish. Now how can someone take a tank to a flea market in the direct sun and try sell it with a fish a quarter full. She did not even mention the fish!!

I would like to get the water filled up and get it to normal parameters at best for this guy. I have aqua safe can I just follow the directions and mix it with tap water? The water in the tank is cold after adding the water what temperature is best? Are these steps ok??

I would also like to give this guy to a good home for free if anyone would be interested!

@mala1610 - sure I'll move it for you - where would you prefer to see it?

Meanwhile - I have never used Tetra Aquasafe, but I looked it up and it seems that it is a dechlorinator and a water conditioner, so I expect you'll be fine if you add it to tap water and then use it to top up. Pleco's are pretty tough fish, so don't panic too much.

Regarding the temp, raise it slowly to around 25 degress, that should be just fine.

Finally, I understand your upset - people can be damned cruel sometimes. Here's a story to demonstrate just how tough pleco's can be. My mother (we've kept fish most of our lives) was travelling in the states some time back and was invited to someones home. She was horrified to see a pleco which had grown so large its tail was forced up the side of a tiny tank... and somehow it still survived.

Wow ... So I guess there are cruel people everywhere!! Thank you for the advice  will do that now. I did not intend on that fish now. So I'll keep it healthy and try give it to someone.. That can look after it. So can we possible close this thread and I will start a new one in the freebie section? Thanks again @tracyp

    My pleasure!

    :girl:

We don't need to close this one, someone else might have some advice to offer meanwhile... But go ahead and open another in the classifieds to see if you can find it a better home, also, update your profile to include your location - that will be necessary if someone can home it!
