I think that potato cannot be fully broken down and thus is stored in the body as fats. I'm not 100% sure. Potato will also make your water cloudy. I don't think this is a wise food source.

As far as babys go I think breast milk is best. Lol

When i had plecos, spirulina tabs where it, they guys used to go crazy for it, but they used to swim upside down on the surface anyway on feeding time and eat regular fish food

Slayer is correct Potatos will cloudy the water. So try feed before a water change or cut thin slices and wash out in cold water, then let it soak for a few minutes then feed. This will get rid of most of the starch.

What other veggies are really good options for Plecos? And which should be given raw and which cooked? I just got one and I want to learn more about proper and safe nutrition for my Pleco living in my community tank.

I can buy algea tablets at your LFS.
You can also feed the cucumber slices (I feed it uncooked)
For fry, ...I am not sure as I never had any.
But if you only have 1 pleco you will likely not have to worry too much about what you should feed your fry -lol

Baby marrow, lettuce, cucumber but they all should be blanched beforehand. Put them into a cup of water and then into the microwave for a min or two.

I secure the raw veggies to a stainless steel ring such as bent stainless welding rod with weight and fishing line to retrieve the ring and un eaten stuff pumpkins gem squash , butternut, baby marrow, cucumber. All raw or else they loose the vitals

Very nice setup for feeding the fish... and from the pictures and how they swarm the food I guess they really really like it.
