If anyone has a pleco they want to give away (I see it's a common thing). I have a 500L tank, so something that can survive in there.

Large plecos are not the most diligent cleaners as far as I know. A scraper on a stick would probably work better :)

I have a PLAGUE of algae. Long hairy things, black, green. You name it, ever since I got LED lights. I did a 95% water change yesterday, scrubbed the tank, cleaned the substrate, scrubbed all ornaments. Now it's algae free and just want something to keep it thay way whilst not being eaten by my angels, who are HUGE and eat everything I put in there.

Get a lot of nerite snails or smaller algae eaters such as hillstream Loaches, ancistrus plecos, otto catfish or even live bearers for hair algae.

A new day and ancistrus like this.

    @Kiaan26

My angels will feast on most of those. I've tried a bunch of things... There's a reason my tank is so empty of fish.

Siamese Algae Eaters when young are extremely good at combating algae, and control it well when fed sparingly.
The more food they get, the less inclined they are to eat algae.

Stay away from Chinese Algae Eaters.
They are bullies, and soon become aggressive and even eat smaller fish.

@Milamber , I agree with what has been said

500l sounds a lot but dimension wise, not for a common pleco

I would go with some bristlenose plecos, if you get some close to adult size the Angels should leave them alone

Hin fin would fit the tank but not be very good for the carpeting plants.

    My 2 cents:
    - could you reduce lighting hours?
    - a couple of nerites should be safe with the angels
    - bristlenose pleco also
    - throw a lot more plants at the problem to outcompete the algae, and focus on plant health and growth
    - more plants, and perhaps driftwood would also provide hiding spots for smaller critters eg ottos or livebeares, when needed

@Milamber my pleco would destroy all the decor in that tank. Especially the plants. They dont do it intentionally they are just do big that seem to move and mess things around.

You did not mention your filtration, that can also be a problem. I have proved on many tanks that if you have the correct filtration for the volume of water, you can get a tank crystal clear and little to no algae.

I agree with eveyone else who has already suggested some bristle nose. Get at least 3 or 4 for that tank. They are great little algae cleaners. And they may even breed under the right water parameters.
