My pleco is a cucumber fanatic. He'll eat this thing in just a few days, hollowing it out and eating the skin too. I  my pleco.

I used to just pop it in the tank, and the poor guy would have to swim while sucking on it as it floated around, so now I weight it down with an old fork, and he gets to eat it at leisure.

Aaargh, I am so pleased I discovered that my "tuxedo fish" are in fact CAE's. They are on their way out, cute little murderous bastards.

They enjoy cucumbers, but those algae tablet things you can get are also pretty good. He certainly like them too, along with butternut and of course algae on the glass/rocks. I don't know what I've done with my ruler, but reckon he's around 12-15cm in length.

How long do you leave the cucumber in the tank?
or does he eat it quite quickly?

Thanks Dolphin, I haven't tried baby marrow yet but I believe they enjoy it.

Brydon, I used to take it out after 2 days, but find that between the pleco, snails and other tank mates they pretty much finish it off in 3 or 4, and I suspect that the plants like what comes off it too.

Do they really like carrot? I always assumed it would be too hard for them... do you cook it first? Apple is also new to me, will give it a go. Thanks!

for the cucumber, cut it in four cross sections and boil a bit (d did mine in 3min with breakfast boiled eggs) and then it'll sink.

this morning a used a green baby marrow, worked the same way, boiling lettuce a little, (or just leaving it in some boiled water after morning coffe for a bit) also works well)

i just do the veggie blanching for my apple snails, but your plec will munch on it happily, (if only my snails could enjoy the marrow... since adding it, all the guppies have swarmed around it, nom-nom-nom) lol.

also works with some string beans

just go out and get some kebab sticks from spar or PnP they are dirt cheap , just round of the sharp point so the fish cant injure themselves, get a nice stone and silicon the stick to the stone and wrap som moss around the stone to make it more atractive , add on desired mix of vegies and u got a nice kebab for your fish friends :)

I just thought I'd post another pic. It's a little blurry, but shows his gorgeous dorsal fin nicely.

A very good idea! We currently use the Omega stick on clips for two of our tanks - the other tanks we made our own clips.....used those large all plastic clothes pegs, drilled a hole through the one side of the top and inserted a sucker. Hey presto an aquarium safe clip for holding the veggies, nori etc
