Pleco ID needed.

    Hi everyone, Please can some one help me ID what kind of pleco this is. Really love this guy and wanna give him the correct care. Not sure what is above is eye. Have not noticed that before and he wasnt moving so not sure if he hurt himself or if it is just some debris. Anyways anyone know exactly what type he is?

    Ok well at least he moved and what ever was above his eye has gone :)

    Common Plecostomus - Hypostemus punctata.... P.Brevis hasa a much shorter nose(that is what "brevis" means in Latin btw. ) and much more distinct orange stripey pattern

    @azurekoi, Thank you. so is he one of the big growing guys? I read that some grow small(bristle nose) and some large. Im pretty sure he does grow large but I just wanna check. He is in a 3 foot now but will be going into my 1.8m tank soon.

    You'll need that 1,8......Will max out at about 40cm +.... The smaller Bristlenoses belong to the Ancistrus Genus....

    Yup, I agree.
    They get big. And produce a lot of waste when they get to adult size.
