I've got 1,600 tank with angels and they are roughly the size of golf balls. I've cleaned all the filters with clean water (I know that is wrong) and treated the tank with stability. I still used the water that was in the tank as I do water changes every week. They started off on a bad foot by not having any appetite at all. It looks like there is a amonia spike in the tank as the water is a bit of a milky colour. I checked the ph and it was 7.1. Then I checked the no2 and it was good. There numbers reduced from 10 to 2, what have I done wrong and what should I do......:wondering:

Please update us on what you doing and is it working. Did the fish show any other signs besides not eating. Were they gasping for air at the surface.

I suspect that after cleaning the filter you lost some bacteria and the milky water is a bacterial bloom in the water column. The biggest danger of a bacterial bloom is O2 consumtion by the bacteria as they compete with the fish. Add an airstone when you have such a bacterial bloom. High NH4 will not cause the water to colour, but can result in a bacterial bloom which will colour the water.

So the high NH4 is still the underlying issue and needs to be addressed. I suspect Altum helped you out with some emergency procedures aimed at managing high NH4 spikes.
