Please help ID this cichlid!

    No idea what it is. It's about 4 - 5cm long.

    Got it at a LFS at Northgate... It's quite active, well, they both are. Bought what seemed like a pair. I thought they were apistos. They have apisto like markings...

    Nope... I have 4 keyholes in another tank. This one is longer and more slender than keyholes.

    Nope, it's not an agassizi either. These are bigger than Agassizi. I've looked everywhere. The closest match I've found is Apistogramma steindachneri. But the colouration is different... But very similar.

    Maybe it is malnourished or still a juvenile. Some of the steindachneri pics on the web do look very similar to yours.

    It's definitely malnourished. Looked very sad at the store. That's why I rescued a couple.

    So I went back to the store and bought the other 6 of them... They look like apistogramma Stiendachneri!! I'm so stoked! Only cost me R25 each!! LOL!!

    I don't think the store knew what they were...

    You should see them all coloured up!! They are quite beautiful. I'll post pics soon. Apparently, they are fairly easy to keep as well...

    No dude... That band through the eye. That's a dwarf cichlid trait.
