    Hi All

So i got a Marinspace LED light and replaced my no name brand R300 light with it a few weeks ago and have started dosing ferts every day (Scap complete + K and trace), but for some reason plants are all starting to turn yellow, i noticed it on the Anubias first, and now the pearl weeds is slowly turning yellow as well, is it too much light for too long (on for 6 hours a day on 50%)? I would like to have the light on for longer to actually see everything in the tank...

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Need more details.

How old are the plants? How long have you had them for? How much are you dosing and how often are you dosing? There are lots of possible scenarios to work from but can't diagnose with the lack of details.

6 hours is not long but out in the wild, plants get between 8 to 12 hours daylight. I usually leave mine on for 4 in the morning and 4 at night so that I can enjoy the tank in the evenings and feed my fish.

I don't even dose ferts as I have fish biowaste and food that feeds it (I used to use EI years ago as I never kept fish til a few years back).

My 2x MS run on full power for probably 10-12 h/ day with no issues (low tech). I have one on the QT and a smaller one on a beta tank.

Just a possibility but perhaps you could up the light intensity and photoperiod? Looking quite dark in the pics but hard to say. Trim away those yellow leaves regardless.

I have had plants for about a year now, i dose ferts as per scape bottle instructions once a day and recently lost a lot of my fish pop due to some contamination in the water, tried takign some better photos, hope they are clear.

@A new day I was afraid of upping the light to 100% due to BBA, but will give it a try along with a vacuum and water change
    tomorrow

I’d go with what she said…

the only thing you changed was lights. Up the 50% to about 70-80% for 4 x 2 hour periods and see how they pick up. You can easily kill bba with hydrogen peroxide or excel in spot dosing the areas needed.

i agree with @A new day up it to 80-100%, i have found that in my tank, if the organics are high BBA appears so keep the filter clean and substrate clean, using the same krugerdorp water, also this may defy some logic but over dosing (very crude form of EI dosing, logic is that the complete has nutrients in a ratio so if you target N then the other nutrients should also hit the required targets) nutrients works for control of algae in my experience as long as your water changes are weekly it will be fine, also you dont need extra k and trace if you dosing Complete (it already has those nutrients), on my no co2 tanks i dose 2ml daily scape complete.

So was doing general maintenance and decided to put old light back as well as the new one, seems the old cheap light give off more light, not sure if it can be seen in the pictures very well
