What would be the pro's and con's of taking plant from my garden (Hen and Chicken)
and putting it in my tank .
If I can use it should it lie in clean water first and for how long?

Rather go for hydrangeas, they create a great splash of colour.... for a day or so

Hey bud, to be serious for just a mo if that's possible... there's a great variety of true under water plants you should consider that will prove far more rewarding, low tech included.

If you could give us some idea on your tank specs, details and fish that would help us point you in the right direction ?

Ditto,It will foul your tank terribly.Frankly whoever told you that this plant actually grows and thrives underwater is a liar.
