    That algae ?

You might be feeding the algae more than your plants ...

On your first picture the yellow spots on the sword leaves might be an iron deficiency. The brown I see might be diatome algae or something comming of the wood in your tank and setling on the plants.

That sword was super healthy about a week back. I actuallu snipped some leaves that were almost at surface levels. It was growing like crazy.

Could it also be new plants i added?

Long strand = hair algae. Keep going with the toothbrush

    Your substrate looks like silica.

PFS is a quartz gravel, so its silica dioxide (SiO2). I think boelderbeestie is suggesting that the PFS might have been a source of silica dust, especially if you didn't rinse it really well before you set the tank up.

im still not sure I understand? what would silica dust do? this tanks has been running for months now, wouldn't that have been an issue for a startup tank?

I suspect the brown algae is actually brown diatomes.
    It should disappear over time.
To help it on its way you could add a couple of Otocinclus to the tank, or even a couple of Nerites.

Pfs can leach silicates. Thrown in some nitrates and light and nutrients and you have ideal algae conditions. I has similar experience with silica sand (pfs). The diatoms never came right no matter what I tried. I stripped the tank down and started again. Some people have had better luck by cleaning and water changes but never worked for me.

Good thing them root tabz are not fertz ;-) ...

So if this was the first time you added the seachem, was it half dose or did you add a little extra because it was the first time?

My thinking - your plants never had water column fertz to this level or degree, so they still needed to adapt to some degree to consume them - but lucky algae was at hand to help with the short term oversupply.

It promotes algae growth. If your lights aren't overly bright it will take a few months. Nutrients are also low at startup.
