Plants for Cycling

I am currently cycling an aquarium and need to know if plants can be added with ammonia at 1ppm?

To answer your question, yes you can add plants to help cycle an aquarium.
Plants can take small amount of ammonium(NH4), but not ammonia(NH3). What makes it seem like plants uptake ammonia is that their roots are ideal for beneficial bacteria to grow on, and so adding lots of plants to an uncycled tank is really just adding lots of beneficial bacteria that converts the ammonia to nitrate, and the plants uptake the nitrate.

Frequent WC could also help you cycle your new tank and if you could also add small amounts of fine crushed flake food to the tank this could also get your bacteria colonies going.
When you do WC do 10 - 30% daily and remember to add Seachem Prime or a well known product. If it is possible use aged water for these water changes. By aged I mean Water that has been treated, heated and aerated for at least three days.

I already have ammonia in the tank as I have used dead 'live' rock in my tank. I am on day 5 and just dosed nutrafin cycle today. Will see how it goes for the 3 day dosing period, then add plants and fish together if my parameters are correct .
