Thought I'd start a thread for the comp, to motivate myself to get this thing rolling. I've decided to try to do an underwater waterfall as an experiment for a slightly bigger 100 liter tank that I want to set up over Christmas.

All I've done so far is stick some dark blue vinyl onto the back of this 45x22x30cm high tank. I would have gone for black, but I'm only using stuff I have lying around..

Some of the rocks that I'll use along with pfp, river sand and pfs.

Some nice rock pieces there...lets see this tank up and running already! :D

can you do a step by step on the underwater waterfall? They look so awesome, would love to see how they are done.

With those rocks one can definitely see a waterfall in there!

(Glad to see I am not the only one using plastic containers for the hobby!)

Broder the water falls look nice but there so much that can go wrong with them. Also having any other water movement in the tank gets the sand everywhere.

Fine for a small comp like this but not really that nice in a real tank.

Shotto guys. It's coming together. The waterfall is a problem. I used to small a diameter pipe, with to small an intake gap, but the look is great. Will post some pics when I have decent light on the tank.

Here's a quick pic of the rock cliff face covering the pvc pipe. Looks precarious, but is actually quite stable due to nice flat surfaces on the rocks.

Finally got the waterfall working after much experimenting. I'm glad I tried it, because the rocks I needed to create the sand fall look very cool, even if I don't end up using the waterfall.

I bought a desk lamp with an 8w led light, rated at 5000k. It looks more like 6500k to me... Nice and white whatever it is, with a beautiful led shimmer.

Next... Drain tank and start planting..

Playsand is too fine I think. Saw a youboob vid of a guy testing it out and the stuff went all over the place. I'm using pfs which seems to work ok. I think a nice white grain between playsand and pfs size would be a win.

Looks brilliant! Like you said even if you don't use the waterfall that rock scape you have created is a winner!

Agree we we need a vid of the waterfall in action. :)

Thanks bud. No idea how to post a vid, so I'll try my best to capture some decent shots with my camera at some point.

i forget the common names sometimes. The Latin names are reddus plantus, HC or HM, something like that... Cobra grassus. Maybe easier to just post a pic:)
