There are a few types of carpeting plants. They vary in difficulty to keep, but most need an addition of a carbon source. Either Co2 or a liquid carbon.

    Glossostigma elatinoides
    Hemianthus callitrichoides (HC)
    Staurogyne repens
    Utricularia graminifolia
    Marsilea hirstata
    Hairgrass (Blacklisted)
    Echinodorus tennelus (Blacklisted)

Glosso and HC are the most popular kinds, but UG and Staurogyne are quickly gaining in popularity. UG is also not easy to keep using liquid carbon. Excel supposedly kills it.

Go for the hairgrass.Easy to grow, doesn't need allot of light or Co2 and the lfs should be able to get it for you.
