i have some, but they aren't THAT pink, and i've ogled them up and down, i think its natural, dunno what parent or crossing gave them the pink though.

You also get the GloFish variety, which was bred in labs, genes spliced with an anemone gene so they are pink, and will glo under black light like a white shirt at a bowling alley:)

what i got looks like a normal zebra danio, with some pink pigment. it may be that these were from offspring of glofish with normal zebs, cause they aren't nearly as pink

i read that when glofish breed, the offspring also have the pink gene

Brachydanio rerio Some LIKE it PINK!

    hi Gilbert!

The latest REALLY Flourescent PINK Zebra Danio, in Cape Town, are NOT GloFish per se'

Cape LFS have THREE sources, with 2 origins.
Two separate starting points, and a local breeder's multigenerational stock explain the above.

The Brightest REDPINK Zebras and LATEST on Cape scene, marketed as Coral Red Zebra (Danios), stem from a different origin, yet same science as the others. .

You will be mislead if you Simply follow the same article:

    • GloFish were derived by NU Singapore, and their commercial deal with USA firm , Yorktown technologies
    • Another Parallel, independent project (briefly hinted at) was developed at NU Taiwan.
Their first fish produced, TK1 is a Flourescent Medaka (Rice Fish). Which is an ILLEGAL species in many lands, including South Africa.

THIS SECOND item is not mentioned in wikipedia article.
    Their Second live product?
    A HOT RED-PINK Zebra Danio!!

Designated TK-2, for TaiKong Corp's (Taiwan) 2nd Flourescent fish.

The latest fish are Taiwan Coral RedFlourescing Protein Gene inserted Zebra Danios

    Hangups aside:

    These fish are AS
delightful, active, healthy and ALOT more eyegrabbing in CoralRed Zebra Danio guise than the rather weak, diluted GloFish form imported, OR locally bred and sold until now.

Within Singapore OR Taiwan origin, their exists variance in WHERE the flourescent gene expresses itself:
It can be skin, muscle, skeleton, and/or ubiquitous expression.
The type and extent reveals different appearances.

    ENJOY
    them!
    At your OWN peril !!!:p

If you like the look of them, then get some!

    I AM Definitely getting some.
