Picture of the month suggestion

Hi all , so there are so many different areas of ones aquarium that you can take pics of . What about starting pic of the month ?

 

I'm not sure what exactly you mean. There's already Fish of the Month and Tank of the Month, which pretty broadly cover what this hobby encompasses. In the former's case, it's normally the better picture that wins.

 

Totm is a full tank shot . What about side or back ? Also a closeup of some hardscape with moss and shrimp. Lots of pics can be taken of 1 tank . This means a person could enter monthly as opposed to 1 or twice a year. Unless you rescape your tank every month.

 

I kind of like the idea. There is way too much small detail in a tank to be noticed in a full tank shot. That one moment where everything just works, even in an avarage tank.

And should include "other" such as wildlife, quirky pets, rare to see pics, emersed setups, and so on...

There is already a Pet of the Month section, as well as Other Pets section on the forum.
The Tank of the Month competition deals with all manner of aquatic tanks, whether submerged, immersed, paludarium or a terrarium for a turtle.
Any other pics can be posted in the Off Topic section.

 

Okay . Just thought different approach to a monthly competition might garner more entrants . I would like to enter my tank into TOTM but it still looks the same so whats the point ? Different areas of my aquarium look just as intresting as a FTS . Anyway just a suggestion ,use it dont use it .

 

If I take a photo of my shoe, may I enter?

I actually was, then I remembered I had an ornamental shoe.

 

I won 2 months ago

 

On one of the international forums where I also do the competitions.... In order to boost the participation a little... we had members entering "Captionable" photos for the first half of the month (without captions).... then... up to the end of that month... photo entries will stop and the Voting polls will decide which of the photos will be presented as the most captionable... Right!!... THEN.... for the first half of the following month.... the winning photo will be run for members to add their captions to that photo.... (at the same time that new captionable photos is entered... up to the middle of that month.. when polls will be submitted for the best caption to the previous photo...AND... the new photo to be presented for a caption till the end of the month... Then the winners in both categories are selected....When the next cycle will commence.... I'll be more than willing to put that to trial on this forum... if any interest is shown....
