yeah it does. Specially when you rescape and realise how many plants you need to trim and replant. I think I did tell you to keep things trimmed so that everything looks good. It's like mowing the lawn - you can't just leave it to overgrow because it will look unsightly.

You mentioned to Burger Loots about keeping low tech plants - I've also learnt it the hard way too - stem plants are far too much work. It's wiser to stick to low tech plants like anubias, buce, DHG, and other rhizome plants. I remember having to trim every week with stems. Now that I have low tech plants, I only trim and clean once a month. Far much better and less maintenance. More time to enjoy the tank.

I'm not a fan of HOB's either - with the Aquaclear 20, it's a huge risk because of our power instability, sometimes the hob doesn't run from power on and it's a scramble to get water back into it so that the motor doesn't burn out. I personally prefer canister filters as they don't have the same problem as the Aquaclear. But heck, it came free with my first tank - it was a salvage anyway so I can't really complain.

Aquaclear's make a nice water polisher, esp if you need to run some purigen in the tank also.

Trying something a bit different, not sure it will work long term but lets see. Yeap it is interesting bit, but needed some extensions... luckily all that has been done can be undone.

Ohhhh phew. That's a relief. I really like that rock - did you try it on its own without the other rock on top?

Yeah too much white space ... and I need the height of twin peaks.

Well let me see what plants I can scavenge for this tank. If it does not work it is easy to undo.

I have said it before, and will again, man small tanks are hard.

He he ... ag sorry, but it is the only way I keep track, and if I take a pic I might as well share it. Not sure we will get loads of updates other than things that change unless something in the tank really surprises me - lets see.

Funny the reason I picked it up from the LFS was - well they had stock - always have to support the guys for trying. Then I wanted to make some fragments with it for another scape I was playing with. The minute I had it on its side in the lid of the tank it was -- hmm can not use this rock for making fragments. The nice thing is that this is free standing as in not touching the sides, very stable etc pure luck that it gets to the water surface as it does.

All good - I know ;-) ... yeah I am still trying to figure that one out. Not all my ground covers grow that successful. So in 10.2 I have added a bit of mote carlo ... see if that takes off - but need to find some lights first.
