LOL mine did the same thing - float, swirling around with the current. Then back into the tank. I think maybe lack of oxygen or something in the water that makes them do this.

One of these days i wont resist temptation and i will give a planted tank a go.... for now i drooll over yours and others on the forum..

I have given up with plants in the big tanks with my fish... about the only thing that survives are anubias..
Even java doesnt.. the rays think these clumps of java make a very comfortable bed...

Yeah - was trying to explain the nano challenges to a fellow office dweller earlier today ... after several nods of understanding I got an - oh, so like bonsai for fish ... dope!!!

Nice thing about nano's it does not have to break the budget - even the fertz are cheap in these quantities.

    Hahhaa... interesting comparison!!

Oh i agree, ferts on big tanks are a budget on their own!!
I think (from what i read on your threads) The temperatures we run the big tanks at are also not very good for plants... i "think" they do better at lower temperatures....

Hmm temp and plants are tricky, 20 - 22 is probably way better as an avg, higher and some melt - lower and they stagnate - neither help for a balanced aquarium. If the goal is to help with creating the balance then too cold does not help at all.

We should be running tanks temps to make living easier for the fish in the tanks - plants recover way better than what a dead fish will.

So my big drive is to keep electricity a small factor of the hobby cost, this means not running things 2 degrees higher than room if room or a bit lower than room will still be fine.

Added a second 5630 led strip, call it 8 Watt LED lights now. Might still add some spot reds ... hmmmm

Has it been 10 days since the thread was started - feels like years.

Think the tank is looking OK, leaves are orientating to the light source nothing has moved too much - so rather pleased.

Dankie, yeah - that is some off-cuts that was in the 2ft. Will be interesting to see if they do better in this tank, the 2ft has an airpump running 24x7 here we have some flow and maybe a bit more light.

For a tank that size I would use a Cascade 100 or 150 HOB.
Depending on what fish you are going to keep in it, you could add a sponge over the intake.

Now, Ferdie, that tank is going to look very good when it's fully grown in... Already looking good at this stage...

Yeah not really doing the HOB for filtration, have also not decided if it will get fish at some point. For now the HOB is to have some circulation, nothing more. The HOB actually comes with a small sponge sock that you can put over the in-take, but right now I have no desire to PIMP this HOB

Thanks Clare, weird how this tank influenced the rescape of the much much larger lucky 13. I am all about texture at the moment it would seem.

This specific tank's... all the rocks from lifestyle pet hyper, but many LFs's stock dragon rock ... two or 3 guys distribute, just ask your LFS to order some for you.
