Today I noticed my male and female pearls acting weird. When they don't notice me they are doing this circle dance thing and feeling each other with their fins they stick together too and there is no aggression either. Should I move them to another tank and see what will happen. It's not the breeding hug. Thing is I have know idea what to think. There is no bubble nest yet the male and female is behaving loke this. I also noticed that she seems fatter then usual. I tried to record the dance but they won't do it when I'm near the tank. Also I thought they are still a bit small as they are around 9 - 11cm long give other take a few.

I am not an expert on Pearl Gouramis but have bred Golden "Sunset" Gouramis. The male will not build a bubble nest if there is any water movement or disturbance, move the pair to their own tank filled only to about half way and put some floating plants in it if you have (hornwort works for me), no pumps not even an airpump must be in the tank. If he builds a nest youre good to go. Just make sure you have food to feed the fry, infusoria, green water etc

Thx BBfish. I thought so. Ok I have a open tank but need to remove thw substrate first. They are still "dancing once in a while. Abd I grow green water for my guppy fry as they seem to love it. Didn't think it will happen this soon I've only had them for two months. Might not get it right diest time but hey try try again.

Yup, they like a very quiet tank. Minimal water flow and heavily planted, especially with floating plants.

When the fry hatch, they are tiny.
So make a culture of infusoria or finely grated egg yolk

Sorry if this derails guys but could you please explain what green water is and how you go about making it?

Also if you get a chance could you please show us some pics once you have them set up in the new tank

Green Water is basically Aquarium water in a see through glass container that you put in a sunny spot. The water will get dark green in about 10-14 days and will contain algae or euglena, euglena are small single cell critters that can be fed to fish fry. Do no let the culture go too long it will turn yellow and crash, rather transfer a cup of green water to a new container filled with aquarium water to keep the cycle going for as long as you need it.

    Thank you so much @BBFish
So I assume that it would be good to feed to betta fry?
Do you happen to know if they are bigger or smaller than infosuria?

I feed my Gourami Fry green water and if not mistaken Gourami fry and betta fry are about the same size, I have never bred betta's though. Size wise euglena is part of the single cell species called infusoria they are all about the same size, very very tiny, one can only observe them properly under a microscope.

Good luck. Do not panic if you loose half the fry in the first couple of days it happens and do not forget to remove the female she will eat the fry.

    Good luck
Before you know it, you will have more fry than you know what to do with.
And as unpleasant as it may be, rather cull the runts and deformed youngster, youngsters missing fins, deformed fins etc

    Aka feeders.

I'm hoping the green water will work! Remember to cling film the top of the tank, warm humid air is vital for the development of labyrinth fishes!

So my Pearl Gouramis Bred almost two week ago on Wednesday. My fry are doing very well and growing quickly.
U took a chance and put them in a 30l half filled with a lot of flaoting plants and no filter. I fed them hake as I didn't hace blood worms and i know they love the hake I feed my Bumblebee catfish.

They weren't even in the tank for 24 hours when they surprised me and spawned. WAfterhen they were done I removed the female who was visibly thinner. Another 24 hours later I removed the male. A few days later the fry became free swimming and I started feeding them Boiled egg yolk which they relish.

Hopefully I can soon start feeding them bbs.

Some pics of the first few days before they started swimm all over the place.
Been trying to get new pic of them but they dont keep still enough and they are still very small.

You could feed them Walter Worms, and then advance to Micro Worms or Hikari First Bites.
Walter worms are TINY, and suitable for newly hatched fry. They can live in the water column for about 48 hours, and attract the fry by wriggling about.
A bonus is that they don't dirty the tank like egg yolk or other powdered foods.

    Very nice.

Keep feeding them multiple times a day, and they will grow quickly.
Pay attention to water cleanliness. It is essential
