Parrot Fish Tank-Mates

Hi people....

I have 1 parrot fish in my 2ft tank. My other 1 passed on some time ago. I've been led to believe that they are sometimes aggressive towards other fish. I want to however create some life/movement in the tank.

I'm looking at either getting another parrot fish or getting other fish to populate the tank. I know parrot fish grow big and will soon outgrow the tank. I will then upgrade to a maybe 4ft.

The big question: Do I go for another parrot or other fish or both? If I go for other fish, what do I go for?

A few people have suggesting selling the parrot back to the shop. He's family. Everyone loves him. Everyone. So that's not an option.

I have kept a parrot fish with 2 Oscars before and had no problems but it was in a 4ft

 

I currently have 7 small Parrots and they do so now and then get agressive, I would suggest another parrot as they tend to chase the other fish around a little, especially as they grow bigger, but my 7 little ones are living in a 6foot tank with many different tank mates, so I suggest get one more parrot and then you can get a few other fish.
and they should all live happily.

I would also keep a 4ft in mind as they do grow big.

 

You will need a bigger tank as already suggested.
I have kept parrots with tinfoil barbs, decans, green terror and even silver dollars.

How about a CAT for a mate? LOL.
I don't like parrots - and what people do to them / to create them / disfigure them etc.
Do parrot fish even have a scientific name?
I hate fish with funny names like parrot; balloon; Ink-injected etc.
Why do breeders/importers even try to play GOD and try to create monstroseties?
If that is not enough, they even cut off the tails when they are young, to create a diffrent looking parrot or flowerhorn.
As an afterthought, I don't actually have anything against parrots - but are against for what they represent - a cruel animal trade!
If no one buy them - no demand / no import.
I feel sorry for the fish and know that people sometimes try to "save" them from the lfs, but I will never keep a parrot as it will remind me of animal-cruelty every time I walk past it!
Don't get me wrong! I have nothing against people with parrots, but try not to support animal-cruelty! or this trade!
Just my opinion... I'm already running! LOL!

Kepp hiom, love him (lol) they are characterful fish. Dion't get rid of him just because of who he is.. My girlfriend has hers with a few Plattys and they are fine...
