    Hey all

    i need some help with packing a canister filter.

    Its a Dolphin C1000, it has 3 trays, one already has open cell sponge in.

    The carbon will be added to my internal filter.

    thanks

    @Vez
    I suggest that you get some "batting" or filter wool and put that into the first tray for mechanical filtration,
    second tray the sponge for biological filtration
    and third tray ceramic bio-rings.

    This way you would not need to wash the sponge too often and have loads of biological filtration.
    If you go and buy batting(from any Fabric Shop - about R30.00 for 1m x 1.5 meter) you can
    afford to chuck away the dirty mechanical filtration on a weekly basis and it wont cost you an arm and a leg.(Sorry LPS Owners)

    P.S. Why Carbon if I may ask??

    Okay I usaully stack mine like this from the bottom going up:

    Bioballs
    Ceramicrings
    Opencell
    Top tray: crushed corral/crushed lava rock/carborn.

    Hope this helps.

    Works good for Hardwater/High PH setup, otherwise you use peat for a Softwater/Low PH setup.
