Ozone generator

I just read something in practicle fishkeeping from the uk.....got a whole load of ebooks. apparently an ozone bubbler will get rid of algae or keep it to such minute quantities. apparently ozone also inhibits brown algae growth. Anyone tried this or can confirm it??

 

Yes it works but you must be carefull as it can do as much harm as good. It must be measured an monitored properly. Maybe just try a Twinstar.

 

Where can one purchase a twinstar and what are they priced at ?

What is the size of the tank you want to use it on?

 

Hi Sean, from what I can recall the tank is 100(L) x 60(H) x 45(W). Going to house discuss, clown loaches and cory's.

 

@Vis, do you have a Twinstar? And how did it work for you?
Asks he who is convinced it doesn't work, lots of hype but nobody knows whether they actually do anything useful.
Some people who use them can't tell you whether they work or not; -but report that green algea grows on their Twinstar (and it is supposed to kill it).

I also bought one, more because I was curious. And it also grew some green algea, -lol
Now it sits in the drawer, ....lesson learned, don't believe all the hype.

Come on @Sean_J, shoot at me, ....but I know you won't because there is no hard proof that it does the job.

@JCL I don't have one, my tanks must have algae but reading reviews about it I am a bit of a draad sitter on if it works or not.

 

Hey, I'm not going to shoot anyone down. I feel the same. I thought it was a great product at first as well. I have had some success with it, and many others have as well, but a proper maintenance regime will sort out any pesky algae in an aquarium. Except maybe Clado.

I have heard from a few people that ozone works for them, and I would use Ozone if I didn't have fish in my tanks. But a small amount of Ozone should be fine.

So it's up to you to make up your own mind. I do feel though, that the disease Twinstar would be a good investment.
