    Hi Guys

One of my Oscars has been acting strange over the past few days. He/she keeps laying and moving he substrate away from the bottom glass in one of the corners of the tank. It is the bigger of the two Oscars that is doing this. Not sure if he/she is just fascinated with his reflection or is he/she cleaning a spawing site?

Any ideas or suggestions please guys!

The one I am talking about is at the bottom in the 1st pic and you can see the exposed bottom of the tank.

Pic of the smaller one in the corner where the substrate has been moved from the base.

very well could be,digging pits is par for the course when oscars are spawning.have you noticed any "shivering in the digger",any lip locking or signs of aggression?its actually foreplay sometimes.

@oscar freak I have actually noticed the 'shivering in the digger' as you call it as well as the lip locking and increased aggression. Guess time will tell.

Who would of thought that a almost two years ago when I got the two they could be a pair.

Yes, I know you can never get excited with Oscars when they behave like this. I Will just have to wait and see what comes of it. Not looking to breed them, but if nature takes it course then so be it.

Im glad you guys find this amusing. Trust me, its not amusing when you get bitten and attacked by them when you doing a gravel vac. Yes, I did get bitten, got the 'skrik' of my life. Luckily they dont have teeth.:blink1: Needless to say water changes are becoming dangerous. I have to vac one side, watch when they are going to attack and switch sides or evacuate asap. They even try and attack me through the glass if I come too close. They have really become aggressive in the last few months.

Since when did Oscars belong to African Rift cichlids? Remove this and place it where it belongs. I find this to be rather insulting. Moderators what are you doing? Why do you not pick this up?
