@AJohnstone Have you tried Tinder.....LOL sorry I couldnt resist.

Seriously though if you were in JHB I could tell you tons of places to get one, its one of the most mistreated fish in the hobby that gets returned to to the LFS after a year once they are now grown adults and big. I am sure their must be LFS in Kzn that has taken some back somewhere.

    few issues with this
oscars are dimorphic so you will not be able to sex oscar unless you watch them breeding
match making adult cichlids is not easy at all
what size tank are you going to house the pair in.
may be best to go get 3-4 youngsters and ideally grow up your female(has she laid eggs?) a toy boy.
very little benefit to breeding oscars honestly

Hi everyone, thanks for your input. I know you can't (easily) sex Oscars without seeing them 'in action', as it were. My plan is to have an arrangement where I can return an oscar to its previous owner if it turns out not to be a male. I've used this arrangement before (with other species), and it has worked well.
I have no intention of breeding the oscars, and I have a large pleco who, thankfully, will probably eat any eggs that might be laid, during the night. I don't like to keep my fish singly, unless they are happier that way, and my female is bored, now that she no longer has a mate. I find that, provided the species is a relatively peaceful one (which all mine are), fish that are paired have a richer life.
My tank is a reasonable size - 840 litres, and I'm about to have a 4 000 litre tank built, so that my fish have plenty of space and live in a natural, rich and interesting environment (as much as captivity will allow, anyway).
I couldn't agree with you more that oscars usually get a very bad deal :(
