I FINALLY found 4 female Betta's to put in with my Male Beta in my Beta tank that I set up for my better half.

Only problem is they are VERY small... and so I have pulled out the old baby grow out tank, and set it up as a "grow out tank".

I told my wife that it wasn't a permanent feature, but purely a quarantine tank so her beautiful female beta's can grow up.... but after all the guppies, mollies and swords that she has collected, I know we will have babies in that tank as soon as the beta's move into the big tank.

    Dam you MTS.

SOLEX... you have the cure for it... seeing though you have just downscaled all your tanks... WHAT IS THE SECRET???

Solex's secret is WORK and lots of it! I think I've built up an immune to it though 'cause I'm working my butt off, day and night, and it sure hasn't cured me :)

That worked for me... and I'm so tired of maintaining all my tanks!

What did help though was the fact that a few 'broke' over the past few months; my life seems a lot more relaxed now :p

Yeah - a move or emigration is probably the biggest anti-mts threat. I am not against MTS - but I do want to scale down on complexity ... back to low tech.

Less light, heaters, pumps .. General tank maintenance is not a biggie in my life. I can do a 50% water change on all 13 tanks under 2.5 hours (2x long hose , 1 for draining the other filling) but ideally I try not to do frequent water changes.

Thinking of moving more tanks out-side ....

trade all your tanks in for one massive(and i mean enormous) tank, maybe just maybe you might get cured

I can do water change on my 160 litre in under 15mins. I use the submerged pump to pump out 20% of the water, and I use a syphone for 5% of water to get the muck out the gravel. Because I use the fine silica sand, most of the much actually floats accross the substrate and geting into the filter... so not too much syphoning required.

I then use a secondary pump to pump the new water back into my tank.

Mts is here to stay! Its like Aids, once you get it, you will never, and I mean: NEVER get rid of it. At school I had 8. In Pretoria I had 36. In Zambia-there were 5. For the last 2 years, I had about 20. Thanks to my dear busy friend Dale, I'm now heading for 30 again! LoL...
The secret is to keep the tanks as natural as you can get it - and then let it look after itself, with little interference (waterchange/-replacement) from yourself. I do all my gymwork in my fishroom/garage, when I clean/carry tanks!
Good luck to my fellow MTS sufferers...
    Gert.

I am lucky when it comes to MTS. The other half just says NO. So i either sleep outside with the dogs or i sleep in a warm bed that i am slowly working to have a tank next to, but have to wait till the other half is in a good mood to ask. Lol oh the life of a married man.
