Online yet no activity?

One question....

Why is there sometimes 20+ members online yet the last past was about 2 hours ago?(Not talking about now)

What does everyone do when they are online besides read through posts?

This was just brought to my attention and would like to know. Usually i will log on, see if there is anything interesting or share something and then log off. Log back on in 20-30min, or just stay one, to read through replies.

anyone reckon maybe rory should get a real time chat room going where we can chat bout the hobby real time....? just a thought???

Not really. There are a few forums like ours with a real-time chat box, doesn't take up much bandwidth at all. It's a good idea but it can get cluttered at times.

 

I agree. It would get confusing if there is alot of people using it

 

and people could just start saying stuff just for the sake of saying it . the forum I think is great as is , not many people have the time to sit and chat.

also troy check how many guests are online , they leech information without contributing sure some become members but most remain guests . if it was upto me guests will only be allowed for one day before they must sign up and be active . this can easily be monitored by the amount of constructive posts made within a time period . guests must visit then go home! if they want to stay then they must speak!

Before i joined i would just search the net for answers. Until one day i came across TASA. Just read a bit and then decided to join. And as you can see im mostly active. Reason? Fast way to get info plus opinions! Better than net!

i generally just stay online when i am at work because i leave my browser open the entire day and plus im always internet surfing,so i would rather just stay online.

 

lol. i cant browse at work. the firm has an IT manager who knows little about it, but alot about spying on users. so you use internet for anything not work/law related, you get an email and usage gets reported. thus i use my phone and opera mini

You remain 'online' for about 1 hour after you have actually left the forum unless you log off as far as I know. I know some people have told me that they can see I'm online when in actually fact I closed the forum window about 15 minutes before that. I never log off but just close the window. That way I don't have to keep putting in my password.

 

My Pc never gets shut off at work and therefore I am always logged on as I don't close browser windows and I am permanently connected to the net

 

I think a lot of people stay conencted and logged in. I know I do. I also never log out... just close the browser, and when I reopen, there it is!!
