Now i saw a Arowana at my lfs today, only about 15cm - 20cm long yet was around R400!
Am i missing something? why are these fish so expensive and wanted by everyone?

    Just looked at link

Nice size tank , really decent fish.
....must say the green tinted rocks, and decor shows poor attention to aquarium management though!

Where/When do you want a tank like this.... or fish?:blink1:

    I can help..if you're serious
PM, with email , other info etc

    @Phinix

We Asains call them the Dragon Fish, the fish that you saw at the LFS should be a Silver one, the price on those are cheap as they are the most common
and comes from the Amazon, they have a staight set of tail all the way to the end.
If you want the more serious ones, prepare to pay a house price for each ( as they need a license and a micro chip )
lovely fish to keep and watch it swim up and down all day. I use to spend hours in front of the family tank just watching it.

As @BBQ said Phinix.... Asian Arowannas are critically endangered in the wild as well,so CITES severely restricts the trade in them - also in the East they are considered "Lucky" Feng shui fish the redder, the higher the price.... Henry, see now what I just said to you about the tank size you need for these beauties.....lol

If Arowana Fish represents the mythical Dragon.
then by similar representation, the rarer the oddity, the more prized the item becomes.
    the TWO-HEADED DRAGON.

Imagine, how that is treated, revered, and valued.

Sick, has nothing to do with it.
    hehe

I have a video clip where one in a river jumps a monkey out of a tree for lunch

(Wish they shot lasers from their eyes and had alfa badge marking, then they would almost be as awesome as boobies)
