(old) Newbie

Hi Everyone
I decided to get back into keeping tropical fish. Growing up I had a lot of tanks, with everything from live bearers, tetras, Angels, Gouramis, Oscars and Cichlids. I also had koi for a period of time.

I bought a secondhand 3ft tank, stripped off all the old silicone and re-silicone it. Also built on an internal sump with 4 chambers:
1. filter wool and mechanical filtration
2. Biological filtration
3. Heater
4. Return pump

The initial idea was to turn it into a cichlid tank, but I changed my mind and decide to go with neons (already in the tank) and either Gouramis or Angels. The guppies that are in the tank were sacrificial fish to seed the filter system. The tank ran empty for 3-4 weeks and then with the guppies for another 2. the neons were introduced on Saturday. I will add a few more bigger leafed plants to hide the internal sump.
