    Good evening All,

Yes also one of those that started with a planted aquarium interest ... still deciding if I should have courage and start from scratch or buy a completed one ...

    Guppy and Neon background :)

Welcome, start from scratch. This as you learn and grow with it. You also get what you personally like.

Thank you all for the replies :)

I am finalizing the theme / idea but it is a decision between (Mystical forestPA - Forest 1.jpg) or (Open mountainous terrainPA - Mountain 1.jpg).
Each has its pros and cons ... e.g.:

Forest - Can really play around with forest theme.
Mountain - Think it will be more easy to maintain.

Forest - More pruning and difficult corners ... maybe also a bit of challenge to keep clean
Mountain - Can quite easily loose perspective since you need to carefully create depth.

The idea is to later introduce fish like Guppies but first to get into the plant routine.

    Two great ideas :)
To be honest, maintaining a path is a lot of work, so if you're dead set on it, be prepared to clean it constantly. I've actually just let my path dissappear.

Nice thing about these scapes is that you can use moss which'll grow very well. It can be a bit of a pain to prune, but if you do this during water changes and use a siphon while cutting, you'll not have a lot of moss bits floating around and will make maintaining it a lot easier :)
